There are so many ways to have fun in New Harmony with great festivals and other noteworthy events. Mark your calendar — You won’t want to miss a single one of the Festivals in Utopia or the myriad other ways to have a good time!

Monthly Market Auction at Wilson’s Auction Center –February 11, 2023, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Sound Bath– February 12, 2023, 4:00 pm, Black Lodge Coffee Roasters. $15 per person (includes a drink). Bring a yoga mat, pillow, something comfortable, blanket.

A Lifetime of Love Songs– February 14, 7:00 pm, The Elliott Farmhouse, 1221 Church Street (Headquarters of the New Harmony Artists Guild.) A musical journey through a lifetime of love songs from the 60s to now with Kelsey and Anthony Georgesen.

“Hope for the Future” – a lecture on CERN –February 16, 6:30 pm at the WMI. Nathan Maudlin will present a lecture on the European Organization for Nuclear Research, whose goal is to “unite people from all over the world to push the frontiers of science and technology, for the benefit of all.”

Live Music Event– February 17, 2023 6-8 pm at Sara’s Wine Bar/Say’s Restaurant, corners of Church & Main, featuring Blue Harmony and Wayne E. Daws.

Utopian Painting ClassFebruary 18, 2023, 1-3 pm. $20 per person. Sponsored by Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites. Advance registration required.

The Harmonist Connection: GardensFebruary 22, 2021. 6-7 pm. Advance registration required. Free. Hear from New Harmony resident Kent Schuette and Old Economy Village volunteer, Joe Pulgini as they share the work that goes into maintaining a modern garden while drawing on the traditions of the Harmonists.

Girl’s Night Out Blooms Party– March 10, 2023. 6:30 pm. Floral arranging lesson with the Golden Rose. Limit 10 people. $50 per person.

Murder Mystery Weekend – “Hunt a Killer” at New Harmony Inn –March 10-12, 2023. $395 per person (double occupancy). Includes 3 day Interactive Murder Mystery adventure; 2 nights accommodations, Friday night welcome reception with cash bar, followed by dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch dinner, Sunday Brunch.

Second Saturdays –March 11, 2023 all day (and every second Saturday through November.)

Beginning Felting WorkshopMarch 11, 2023. 12-3 pm. $75. Learn wet and dry felting techniques with Sara Christensen Blair. All materials will be included. This class will be geared toward beginners with no experience but, all experience levels are welcome.

Spring Fling –March 11-12, 2023. 2023 RCRG Spring Fling in New Harmony at the Ribeyre Gymnasium. Antiques, collectibles, gifts, glass art and more.

Shamrock Days –March 17-19, 2023. Good-hearted fun and shenanigans throughout New Harmony, from a Leprechaun Scavenger Hunt to special menus and merchandise. Stay tuned for details.

St. Patrick’s Day Music– March 17, 2023, 5-8 pm. Grapevine Bar, Red Geranium.

Paranormal Investigation of Orchard HousePart 2 – March 18, 2023, 7:00-10:00 pm. $40 per person. Reserve your space atHauntedNewHarmony.com. Joni Mayhan will be hosting a Paranormal 101 session prior to the investigation (from 6-7 pm.) $20 per person. Bring a digital recorder.

A collection of fun activities: Easter egg hunts — starting with the one at Harmonie State Park and continuing through to the Glow in the Dark Adult Evening Hunt, to Easter bunny visits, special features in various businesses, sunrise service, buffet brunch at the New Harmony Inn Conference Center.

Easter Sunday Brunch Buffet– April 9, 2023, 7am-2pm, New Harmony Inn Conference Center.

First Brush of SpringApril 12-15, 2023. this plein air paint-out sponsored by the IPPA and Hoosier Salon attracts artists from all over to come create art outdoors in New Harmony. For days, easels go up all over town, the paint brushes and pastels come out, and the magic of making art happens. It’s a wonderful time to be visiting.

Heritage Artisan DaysApril 12-14, 2023. Students are invited to learn what life was like in Indiana in the early 1800s and experience 19th century history through interaction with historic interpreters. Registration required.

Shining Light on a Total Solar Eclipse –April 28, 2023, 12:00 p.m. at Thrall’s Opera House. Mitch Luman, the Director of Science Experiences for the Evansville Museum makes a presentation on a once-in-a-lifetime experience: a total eclipse of the sun. Audiences will learn the science behind one of nature’s most spectacular phenomenon coming to New Harmony in 2024. Tickets at $5.00 (discounts apply if a member of Indiana State Museum.) Annual New Harmony Antique Show– June 10-11, 2023 (also known as the Golden Raintree Antique Show/Festival in New Harmony). Free admission to this vintage and antiques show filled with Americana, Art, Advertising, Stoneware, Garden Antiques, Kitchenware, books, jewelry, silver, glassware, primitives, furniture and so much more. Also featured is an appraisal Fair with certified appraiser George Higby, aka the anitque nomad on social media.

Shindig at The Barn by Jeff & Cindy Smotherman –June 10, 2023, evening. Granary St./Brewery St. intersection. Entertainment by the Schellhorn Band with the Shenanigans Committee planning a special shenanigan!

Firefly Festival– June 16-17, 2023. Mark your calendar now and plan to enjoy a magical experience Friday and Saturday, June 16 and 17 in New Harmony as we celebrate the Firefly Festival with special activities and programs, fun facts, and forays into the firefly habitat to watch nature’s fireworks. Independence Day Celebrations– July 4, 2023. Reading of the Declaration of Independence, music by the Community Choir, keynote address, sponsored by the Working Men’s Institute. Honoring of the Kiwanis Volunteer of the Year. Plus the Kiwanis’ decorated Golf Cart parade and cookout.

Kunstfest –New Harmony’s largest festival of the year – September 16-17, 2023. Art, crafts, antiques, entertainment, festival food. This celebration of German heritage and art is one of the biggest of its kind in Indiana.

Dulcimer Chautauqua on the Wabash– October 18-22, 2023. Annual fall festival that brings players together in historic New Harmony to develop dulcimer knowledge and playing skills. Don’t play the dulcimer? Attend one of the two staged concerts and enjoy the show!

MerryMeeting Show– October 27-28, 2023. Come join a select group of Early American Life Magazine Directory Craftsmen from around the Midwest for two days of meeting, shopping, and conviviality with our annual market.

Halloween Festivities– October 28, 2023. Various times throughout the day. Sponsored by OneNewHarmony. Trick or Treating in the businesses. Pumpkin carving. Dress Like a Witch Day. Nighttime Lighted Halloween Golf Cart Parade.

Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony– December 1, 2023. 5:30 pm. Courtyard, New Harmony Inn. Refreshments, entertainment. Free.

Christmas in New Harmony Festival– December 2-3, 2023. This is a family-friendly way to immerse yourself in the Christmas spirit. Three parades — an old-fashioned parade with floats and fire engines and marching bands; a lighted night Christmas golf cart parade; and a pet parade. Vendors with a wide selection of items, from jewelry to home decor. The town of New Harmony dressed up in its Christmas finery, looking like something out of a Hallmark movie. Carolers, horse & carriage rides, a gnome scavenger hunt, Candyland for the kids, special food offerings, entertainment, The Nutcracker Ballet.
