At Itan high school, some students are well-respected and popular or have a strong reputation for something or other. Other students, meanwhile, are often made fun of or tend to blend into the background instead, which creates a clear hierarchy of popular and unpopular students.
10 Ren Yamai Has Loyal Friends
Many of the main characters inKomi Can't Communicate are waryof Ren Yamai, since she's a fierce yandere character who will do anything to get closer to Shoko Komi and drive everyone else away. This doesn't endear her to many of the characters.
Still, Ren is often seen with a group of loyal gal-pals who clearly think highly of her and enjoy being in her company, so there's always that. And despite Ren's bad behavior, Shoko still wants her around and might listen to her advice once in a while.
9 Netsuno Chika Impresses Everyone With Her Athletic Prowess
Netsuno Chika is a highly athletic and energetic girl who sees other people in terms of heat, and the hotter, the better. She is also naturally competitive and likes to compare her running to that of Shoko Komi and other worthwhile rivals during a school sports festival.
Netsuno isn't the most influential or popular girl at Itan, but she does command respect with her confidence and excellent running, making her a star during any sports festival. It also helps that her competitive streak is healthy, which makes her easier to like.
8 Masayoshi Komi Is A Respected Father
Shoko Komi's father, Masayoshi, is even quieter than his daughter, but he still commands respect in his household. His wife, son, and daughter all think highly of him, and he and Shoko get along well anytime they go out to visit ice cream parlors or cozy cafes.

Shoko is comfortable around her father, and she can tell him all sorts of things she'd hesitate to tell other people. It's also clear that Masayoshi's wife Shuko is still deeply enamored with him, even after all this time. She had a good impression of him when they dated in high school, and that has never changed.
7 Makeru Yadano Has A Fun Club
Makeru Yadano is an obnoxious one-sided rival of Shoko Komi, and she is almost the Katsuki Bakugo of Komi Can't Communicate, minus the explosions. Shoko accepted Makeru as a friend but feels no particular need to compete with her.
Makeru gets along reasonably well with Shoko and the other main characters, but most notably, there is an unofficial fan club dedicated to following Makeru around and emulating her and seeing her as a role model. It looks like Makeru's antics have finally paid off somehow.
6 Najimi Osana Can Gather Dozens Of Friends For A Party
The ultra-popular Najimi Osana claims to have millions of friends across Japan, and even if that's an obvious exaggeration, Najimi is quite popular all the same. Their many friends definitely think highly of them, since Najimi can easily call and text dozens of friends and convince them to take part in any activity at a moment's notice.

Only a highly influential and well-regarded person like Najimi could possibly do that, and Hitohito Tadano is regularly in awe of how easily Najimi can set a party into motion and help everyone have a good time. Shoko is quietly impressed, too.
5 Nene Onimine Is Like A Big Sister
Many anime series feature a beloved "big sister" character whom everyone looks up to, such as Itsuka Kendo in My Hero Academiaor Misaki Ayuzawa in Maid-Sama!. Meanwhile, in Komi Can't Communicate, that character is Nene Onemine.
Nene is a mature, responsible, and empathetic girl who can get along with anyone and make a great impression on them, and everyone sees her as a reliable and honest person. She has a solid reputation and is a good friend to Shoko, but there are even more popular students than her.
4 Gorimi Enforces Silence In The Library
The minor character Gorimi doesn't say much aside from "quiet in the library," but that' all this hulking, stern girl needs to say. Gorimi takes the library quite seriously, and she has little patience for troublemakers like Najimi who make a ruckus in those hallowed halls of learning.

Gorimi doesn't seem to have any friends, but then again, she can easily intimidate any student into keeping quiet in the library, and even Najimi will make an effort to do what Gorimi says. Everyone knows better than to cross Gorimi in the library, and that means Gorimi is highly respected in her own way.
3 Yuiko Komi Commands The Entire Family's Deepest Respect
Yuiko Komi appears to be the matriarch of the overall Komi family, and her many relatives defer to her as a well-respected woman. Yuiko lives in a quaint house in the countryside and looks good in traditional Japanese garb, but she can also be quite strict and demanding at times.
The entire Komi family will pay Yuiko a visit, and they will meet with her one at a time in private. She once chewed out her adult son Masayoshi, but she treated her granddaughter Shoko much more gently and was happy to hear that Shoko is doing well in school. She also seems to find her daughter-in-law, Shuko, a bit irritating.
2 Shosuke Komi Makes The Girls Swoon
Shosuke Komi is what's known as a bishonen, an extremely handsome boy who is simply irresistible to the girls around him. Shosuke is very quiet and withdrawn, like his big sister, except he chooses to not communicate. This makes him an aloof kuudere, rather than a nervous dandere.
Shosuke doesn't appear that often, but when he does, it's clear that everyone thinks very highly of him. He's a chick magnet like no other, and the girls are quick to place him on a throne, like a young king. His sister Shoko gets along with him well, and his father Masayoshi was eager to have some father-son time with him later in the manga, too.
1 Shoko Komi Is The Campus Queen Bee
The quiet heroine herself, Shoko Komi, is easily the series' most popular character, both at school and in her everyday life. Absolutely everyone whom Shoko meets gets a good impression of her and wants to be her friend, or at least, they want to be seen with her. She is simply incapable of making enemies.
Shoko inherited her mother's stunning looks and her father's aloof personality, meaning that everyone sees her as an elegant and perfect ice queen who demands respect from the peasants around her. Shoko doesn't actually view herself that way, but her reputation has a life of its own, and everyone is still convinced she's a princess who must be protected at all costs.
